Sealed bearings (suffix 2RS) have rubber seals on both sides that provide excellent protection against contaminants and moisture, and are pre-lubricated for life. Shielded bearings (suffix ZZ) have metal shields that protect against larger particles but allow some grease leakage. Sealed bearings are preferred for dirty or wet environments; shielded for lighter-duty applications.
